Itinerary details.
Day 1: Arrival.
On your first day, our company representative will pick you up from the airport for the trip. Identify him through the unending smile, placard inscribed on your name, and the gentle smartness. After a briefing, you will be driven to the lodge around the city for a rest from the long Journey, dinner, and overnight.
Day 2: Kigali city tour and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park.
After enjoying a lip-smacking breakfast meal at the lodge, you will check out of the hotel for a transfer to Volcanoes national park, after a rewarding tour a round Kigali City (one of Africa’s smartest modern cities). You will explore the local markets to buy some essential items and then proceed to the genocide memorial site for history.
Thereafter, you will enjoy a yummy lunch meal and then embark on a 2-3 hour drive to Volcanoes national park, traversing undulating Hills, and flourishing vegetation among others. Dinner and overnight come at the end of the day, after refreshment.
Day 3: Gorilla trekking.
At about 6 am, you will head for breakfast, followed by a drive to the park headquarters for briefing, before embarking on your lifetime mountain Gorilla trekking experience, which can last for roughly 1-6 hours, plus a maximum of one extra hour of watching them feed, relax or move around comfortably. Mountain Gorillas are so endangered and rare, yet only found in the continent of Africa.
After the search, you will return to the lodge for lunch, refreshment, dinner, and a nap as you wait for the next day’s golden monkey tracking. Note that you still have the allowance of requesting an activity instead of resting.
Day 4: Golden monkey trekking and cultural adventure.
This is another day of adventure, unforgettable reunion, fun, and excitement. After breakfast, you will go to the park headquarters for briefing, followed by a 1-5 hour Golden monkey tracing experience. Golden monkeys are one of the most charming creatures in the wild, very playful, and fun encountering. In the extra one hour, you will need to be so attentive and fast, if you will take the best photos, understand their unique behaviors and learn.
Thereafter, you will return for lunch at the lodge, followed by an exciting cultural encounter with the Ibyiwachu cultural community. Songs, stories and dance will be part of the entertainment, before your return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park.
After breakfast early morning, you will check out of the lodge for Nyungwe national park; an asylum to the rare chimpanzees; man’s closest relatives, sharing over 98% human DNA. It is a smooth drive, through a route with a variety of green vegetation, scattered homesteads and so much more, with an amazing lunch stopover. Your arrival at the park will be late in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Chimpanzee trekking and canopy hike.
Start your day with a yummy breakfast meal at the lodge, followed by a rewarding chimp tracking and Canopy walk, after an early morning briefing. Over 13 unique primate species are co-existing in the vast Nyungwe Jungle, though dominated by the chimpanzees, man’s cousin. Tracking lasts for roughly 1-6 hours, plus an extra hour of resting, studying about the primates, and taking photos.
Thereafter, you will exit the Jungle for Lunch, before spending about 1-2 hours exploring the magnificent canopy. At the top, you will glance at the breathtaking landscape, birds and some primates playing on the treetops. This day ends with a free refreshment time, dinner, and a nap at the lodge.
Day 7: Full day at Lake Kivu.
You will welcome this day with energy giving a cup of coffee, followed by a whole day spent having fun, boat cruise, relaxation and any other activity. Lake Kivu is Rwanda’s largest freshwater lake, with a very magnificent beach, a variety of plant species and birds among others.
Enjoy yummy kinds of seafood at the set time, followed by photo moments and many more. Dinner and overnight come at the end of the day.
Day 8: Transfer to Akagera National Park.
Fresh from the previous day’s fun and relaxation, you will enjoy a yummy breakfast meal at the lodge, and then checkout for an exciting drive to Akagera national park; Rwanda’s only savannah game park, and home to Africa’s big 5. Lunch will be en-route, whereas dinner and a nap will come at the end of the day in your lodge at the park.
Day 9: Full day game drive.
After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge for a rewarding full-day game drive across the different corners of Akagera’s wilderness. Present at the park is a wide range of flora and fauna, a breathtaking landscape, and a concentration of bird species. In the hours of your adventure, chances are that you will encounter any of the residents present, notably; lions, leopards, elephants, African cape Buffaloes, Zebras, Rhinos, and several other antelope species.
You will have a Bush breakfast and a picnic lunch in the wilderness, after which, you will return to the lodge for refreshment, dinner, and a night of amazing sleep.
