Overview.
The 10 days Tanzania Safari offers the best of Northern Tanzania’s tourist destinations and if there is any safari you ever longed for, then this is what you need. Get to experience one of the most thrilling natural wonders of the World-the “annual migration” where millions of wildebeests, zebras and gazelles migrate across the beautiful savannah plains of Serengeti National Park to neighboring Kenya’s Masai Mara National Reserve. This is a moment to behold.
With destinations such as Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Crater Lake Manyara National Park and Tarangire National Park on your itinerary, expect nothing less than magical and breathtaking. Endless views of cheetahs, stripped and spotted hyenas, elephants, Masai giraffes, buffaloes, lions, serval cats, African wild dogs, aardwolves, leopards, zebras, Grant’s gazelles, Roan antelopes, common elands, Hippos, Aardvarks, caracals, civets as well as plethora of outstanding bird species such as flamingos, secretary birds, pelicans, eagles, starlings, cormorants and vultures are some of the things you should expect during this long Tanzania safari.
Detailed Itinerary.
Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania via Arusha Airport.
On arriving Tanzania – the home to African safaris, meet and greet with your Safari guide and be driven to a hotel in Arusha Town.
Day 2: Drive from Arusha Airport/Town to Lake Manyara National Park and undertake a game drive.
Breakfast will be served at the Hotel in Arusha Town, where you will meet again with your safari guide for a briefing on the first destination to be visited, how long the journey will last, then embark on the journey to Lake Manyara National Park. This Park is known as the birding Paradise of Tanzania with numerous species of birds with the popular ones being the Flamingos.
Arrive in the afternoon and undertake a mini game drive with hope of seeing elephants, impalas, Defassa waterbucks, lions, Cape buffaloes and warthogs among others. Continue to the Lodge for dinner and overnight stay while enjoying views of the Lake and other surrounding areas of the Park.
Day 3: Game drive and transfer to Serengeti National Park.
Be treated to a lovely breakfast and game drive that increases chances of seeing the nocturnal species of the Park such as African wild cats, leopards, mongoose, spotted hyenas and bat-eared fox in addition to antelope species such as Defassa waterbucks, Klipspringer, common elands, bushbucks and Oribis, not forgetting Cape buffaloes and Masai giraffes.
Your drive will also lead you through the shores of Lake Manyara that attracts up to 100 of the park’s 400 species. Lesser and greater flamingos are the most popular but there are also Nubian woodpeckers, Red-chested cuckoo and pink-backed pelicans among others. Immediately exit Lake Manyara National Park and continue to Serengeti National Park, where you will arrive in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Full day in Serengeti National Park.
You have the whole of this day to experience the untouched wilderness of Serengeti National Park. Have breakfast before sunrise and start the game drive through the vast plains of this Park, while spotting wildebeests, Rhinos, elephants, grant’s gazelle, Cape buffaloes, Masai giraffes, lions, zebras, Kobs, Roan antelopes, Oribis, leopards, impalas and spotted hyenas.
Serengeti National Park is one of the few places in Africa where big five animals can be seen at close range. Your guide will find a convenient and comfortable spot to enjoy your packed Lunch and continue with your Serengeti National Park tour.
By the end of the day you will have encountered some of the country’s endemic bird species that include Grey-breasted spurfowl and Fischer’s lovebird among others. Also expect to see the secretary birds and Kori bustard during this expedition and return to the Lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Another day exploring Serengeti National Park.
Your second day in Serengeti National Park will be filled with extraordinary views. With the beauty in Serengeti’s vast landscape, even 2 days are not enough to explore it because each day brings new experiences. Start the day with breakfast and head for another dose of discovery with a game drive through other areas of the Park that were not explored.
Explore the different landscapes/terrains with more of the Park’s wildlife and bird species at your exposure. Have bush/picnic Lunch and continue to the nearest Masai Community for cultural discovery. You will be welcomed by Masai guides, who will take you through the community to tour their homesteads, be introduced to some of the significant cultural objects such as sandals, Masai Shuka, beads, stools and many others.
Round up the day with a thrilling cultural dance performance that you will also join. Return to the Lodge with memories of the game drive and cultural performances, enjoy dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6: Drive to the spectacular Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
Arise with the sun and have breakfast that will see you leave Serengeti National Park for the outstanding Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Everything in this Conservation Area is amazing but the views of large numbers of lesser and greater flamingos as well as the endemic Rufous-tailed weavers will be the highlight of your visit. Large herds of elephants, Hippos and Cape buffaloes will also be unmissable.
Day 7: Morning game drive in Ngorongoro Conservation Area and transfer to Tarangire National Park.
This adventurous day starts with breakfast at the Lodge and game drive to explore the Ngorongoro Crater where most of the game species usually converge. There are Defassa waterbucks, Hippos, spotted hyenas, elephants, Black rhinos, Cape buffaloes, lions, warthogs, Olive baboons, gazelles, leopards and many others, and you will be lucky to see most of them.
With your packed lunch, continue with the drive to Tarangire National Park, known for sheltering majority of the country’s endemic species as well as high density of elephants, African wild dogs and common elands among others.
Day 8: Full day exploring Tarangire National Park.
Have breakfast and venture into this 2850-square kilometer National Park on an early morning game drive. Expect to see massive herds of Cape buffaloes, elephants, Defassa waterbucks, banded mongoose, Masai giraffes, Grant’s gazelles, vervet monkeys, wildebeests, zebras, impalas, common elands and Kirk’s Dik-Dik. Also look-out for predators such as Honey badger, African wild dogs, cheetahs, lions, caracal and leopards among others.
This full day exploration of Tarangire National Park involves breaks to have Picnic Lunch (under one of the huge baobab trees) and in the evening drive back to the Lodge for a well-deserved dinner by a roaring fire under stars as well as overnight stay.
Day 9: Another day in Tarangire National Park.
On day 9 get the chance to explore another section of Tarangire National Park with also boundless game views. On this day you will embark on a half day game drive then in the evening undertake a guided tour to the neighboring Masai villages for community birding and other outstanding activities.
Traditional dance/song performances during dinner will stir your heart and keep memories of the safari fresh.
Day 10: Return back to Arusha Town and depart.
Breakfast and transfer to Arusha, marking the end of this amazing Tanzania safari with departure flight or drop-off at any other location.
