This is the starting day for your interesting 2 days gorilla tour. Meet and greet with your safari guide who will later drive you northwest wards to Volcanoes National Park. This is 3 hours’ drive passing through verdant plantations and stunning landscapes that characterize this land of 1000 hills.
You will arrive early enough to engage in other day activities near the park, notably visiting the gorilla guardians Village (Ibyiwachu cultural village) where you will be entertained and treated to rich Rwandan cultural performances and demonstration of ancient dress codes. Learn about the different Rwandan traditional dance styles, some ancient and others still upheld till date.
Alternatively, you can do a morning city tour in Kigali to discover some of the historic places and monuments that make this city so interesting. This ideally depends on your arrival time.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park and return to Kigali.
Wake up on a bird’s call, ready to take on the highlight of your trip! Have breakfast at 6:30am, and transfer to Kinigi park headquarters for pre-trek briefing and be treated to a warm cup of coffee and lively Kinyarwanda traditional performance.
Thereafter, join a team of experienced gorilla trackers and ranger guide to begin the exploration. Gorilla trekking is somewhat physically demanding but nevertheless does not require any experience or level of physical fitness, even the old can manage. The adventure can last for 8 hours, or even 2 hours depending on the location of your allocated family. During dry season, the jungles can be dry and easily penetrable allowing you to find these primates within a few hours, as opposed to wet season when jungles are quite hard to penetrate and navigate.
Upon meeting these creatures, you will be given only an hour to enjoy their presence, and also take pictures, videos and ask any questions that you would like.
After the adventure, return to Kinigi park headquarters for lunch and then later return to Kigali city for your onward flight.
