Overview.
This time is faster, exciting, and more rewarding visit to Bwindi impenetrable national park in the southern part of Uganda, through the republic of Rwanda; the land of a thousand hills. With a grateful heart, you will traverse a variety of rolling hills, vegetation and the scenic Katuna border post, where documents will be verified.
The Bwindi National Park has four gorilla trekking sectors, in which half of the world’s mountain gorilla populations reside. You will enjoy the tracking, as well as a reunion with the Batwa Pygmies, renowned former hunters and gatherers. The trip starts and ends in Kigali, Rwanda.
Detailed Trip.
Day 1: Pick up from Kigali to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Upon arrival at Kigali international airport, our company representative will gladly welcome you for this 3 days exciting encounter with the rare Mountain Gorillas at Bwindi impenetrable national park, southwestern Uganda. Depending on your arrival time, you will have an optional visit to the Kigali Genocide memorial; a place where over 2500 victims of the Tutsi and Hutu rebellion were buried in 1994.
The drive to Bwindi lasts for approximately 3-4 hours, with amazing views of rolling hills, green vegetation, and water bodies. You will have a lunch stopover and a drive to the lodge situated in the sector the tracking is meant to be done. Dinner and overnight mark the end of today.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking and Batwa Pygmies encounter.
You will kick start today’s chapter with a lip-smacking breakfast meal at the lodge very early in the morning and then drive to the headquarters for registration and briefing by the park rangers, who will break down the rules and regulations governing the park. Tracking the Gorilla family allocated to you may last for approximately 1-6 hours, through the territory they were last spotted the previous day, place an extra of one hour for taking photos, asking questions, and watching the mothers’ breastfeed the infants, youngsters play and the gentle silverbacks walk majestically.
After reuniting with these apes, you will withdraw from the park for lunch and then head for an exciting cultural experience with the Batwa pygmies. After the fun, dance, and songs, you will retrieve them from the community for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Departure.
At sunrise, breakfast comes first, and then you will check out of the lodge for a drive to Kigali, Rwanda for your flight. Note that it is very possible to have an activity this day, before closing the chapter of your adventure.
