3 DAYS MOUNT. ELGON AND SIPI FALLS TOUR.
Overview.
There is nothing magical like standing at the peak of Mount Elgon with the clouds and the surrounding areas stretched out below you. With the 3 days Mount Elgon and Sipi falls Tour, you will take on Mount. Elgon hike as well as Sipi falls, the magnificent series of three falls with heights of 75, 85 and 100 meters. These waterfalls lie on the brim of the extinct mountain, also bordering Kenya.
This Tour also includes touring the Sipi falls area where sights of vast coffee plantations cannot be missed and if time allows also interact with the Bagisu people known for Public male circumcision. Mount Elgon National Park is about 280 kilometers/5-6 hours’ drive from Kampala City and offers spectacular sights in addition to wide array of wildlife species that include spotted hyenas, buffaloes, bushbucks, serval cats, leopards, elephants, Defassa waterbucks, forest hogs, Rock and tree hyraxes and many others.
Detailed Itinerary.
Day 1: Drive from Kampala City to Mount. Elgon National Park and hike the Sipi falls.
On the first day of your safari, you will be picked up by our professional Company driver for departures to Mount Elgon National Park. Use the eastern route through Mabira forest where you will undertake the adventurous zip-lining and continue with the journey until Mbale Town for Lunch.
In the afternoon after Lunch and relaxation, hike the Sipi falls on the edge of Mount Elgon, beginning with the highest-100 meters, to the second highest at 85 meters and then the last one of 75 meters. This Hike lasts 3-4 hours and involves transversing Arabica coffee farms and encountering numerous wildlife species, before returning back to the Lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Hike the magnificent Mount. Elgon.
After having breakfast, wear appropriate hiking attire, get your Lunch box and transfer to the briefing point where Park guides will take you through the hike, low long it takes and what to expect while hiking. Select one of the many trails and embark on the hike through coffee plantations, Bamboo forest on the lower slopes and montane forest on the upper slopes while encountering different birds such as bar-tailed Trogon, Black-collared Apalis and Hartlaub’s Turaco and wildlife species such as buffaloes, elephants and Defassa waterbucks. On finalizing the trail and enjoying packed Lunch, descend to the bottom for a transfer to the Lodge.
If time allows embark on a community visit to the Bagisu or Sebei people, who have somewhat similar cultures. These people are known for practicing public male circumcision known as “Imbalu” and if lucky you will witness this practice. Back to the Lodge for slumber and meals.
Day 3: Drive back to Kampala City/or Entebbe International Airport.
Enjoy breakfast and off to Kampala with a stop at Jinja City where you will undertake a boat ride to the source of R. Nile in addition to visiting the Bujagali Falls.
Proceed with the journey to Kampala for dinner and overnight as you wait to continue with a visit to other destinations on your long safari or to Entebbe International Airport for scheduled flights.
