Join your 3 days Stone Town tour to immerse yourself in the rich culture of Zanzibar. If you ever visit Zanzibar City, take a tour of Stone Town to explore its rich heritage-Slave Trade History, extraordinary architectural designs attributed to Portuguese, Indian, British, Arab and Persian settlers dating to 19th Century.
There are a number of interesting activities you can undertake within this UNESCO World Heritage Site and these include taking a spice tour where you even visit spice plantations and even taste every king of spice you every thought about. Taste some of the delicious cuisines and many other activities that will take your breath away.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Abeid Amani Karume International Airport and drive to Stone Town. Optional city walk in the evening.
On landing at Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (formerly known as Zanzibar Airport), you will be welcomed and picked by our Company representative (who will also be your driver/guide for the tour) for a transfer to the hotel in Stone Town. The scenic journey from the Airport to Stone Town is about 30-35 minutes.
Settle in, freshen-up and be served one of Zanzibar City’s specialties and hit the main street for shopping where you will find jaw-dropping handcrafts, African wear from Kitenge/or Ankara, bags, earrings, and shoes which you can use the next day to blend in the community.
A rooftop dinner at Emerson on Hurumzi Hotel is definitely not a bad idea to end your day while enjoying sunset views of the City and Ocean as well as being accompanied by traditional music.
Day 2: Walking tour of Stone Town.
Have breakfast and meet the local tour guide in the morning for a briefing on Zanzibar City before finally embarking on the Tour of the City. This Tour will capture elements of Zanzibar’s history, culture and unique architectural designs, and ends with a Lunch break at one of the sleek restaurants recommended by your guide. While here, you can try out some of Zanzibar’s spicy and mouthwatering dishes although other International cuisines are also offered.
Return back to your Hotel for afternoon unwinding or continue shopping, because Zanzibar is very irresistible when it comes to beautiful things to purchase. Overnight stay will be at your booked hotel but for dinner, get a chance to try out another restaurant with variety of more delicious and spicy cuisines.
Day 3: Half day tour at Jambiani and departure.
Check-out of the hotel for a transfer to Jambiani, popular for pristine white sandy beaches for unwinding. Alternatively, visit the famous Prison Island off the Coast of Stone Town where slaves were detained and while here, you will wish to stay longer. Later continue for your safari to other Tanzania destinations or to the Airport for departure flights.
