4 DAYS BWINDI GORILLAS AND LAKE MBURO SAFARI.
Overview.
Our 4 days Bwindi Gorillas and Lake Mburo Safari is an interesting Gorilla trekking and wildlife viewing package leading to the misty Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to more than half the population of mountain gorillas as well as Lake Mburo National Park, a stunning savannah grassland Park sheltering exceptional wildlife species such as zebras, impalas, Topis, common elands, Rothschild giraffes, Defassa waterbucks, buffaloes and leopards. The safari begins and ends in Uganda (Entebbe or Kampala).
Detailed Itinerary.
Day 1: Pick-up from the Hotel, drive to Lake Mburo National Park and afternoon boat ride.
Pick-up from the Hotel by your safari driver starts the safari and is followed by briefing. The 4-5 hours’ drive involves breaking the journey at Uganda Equator for coffee, ice cream and equator experiments lasting 30 minutes and continue until the Park. Get to the park in the afternoon for a delicious meal at the booked lodge and continue to a boat ride on Lake Mburo.
The boat ride takes only 2 hours and rewards visitors with the incredible views of crocodiles and Hippos in the water as well as buffaloes, Impalas, Topis and bushbucks along the pristine lakeshores. Also, watch different bird species such as shoebill storks, African fish eagles and hornbills during the boat ride. After this amazing activity, drive back to the Lodge for a cold bathe, hot meal and slumber.
Day 2: Early morning game drive through the savannah plains and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Have a cup of tea/coffee then join your waiting safari driver for a game drive through the Park’s spectacular savannah plains where views of impalas, giraffes, leopards, buffaloes, Topis, Oribis, mongoose, Defassa waterbucks and warthogs cannot be missed. Also, beautiful views of Tropical sunrise as well as bird species should also be expected during the boat ride. Drive back to the Lodge for Lunch and immediately leave for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, about 5-6 hours’ drive and get there in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Mountain gorilla trekking adventure in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Every day on this safari is amazing but day 3 is undeniably unforgettable as you get to meet face to face with mountain gorillas within the misty Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Have breakfast and meet up with your safari driver for a transfer to the Park Headquarters for briefing on the guidelines of trekking the endangered giant apes.
After this 30-45 minutes’ briefing, be grouped into 8 visitors to a particular habituated gorilla family to trek. Be introduced to your guide who is very knowledgeable on the activity and very conversant with the forest, start the trek that lasts 1-6 hours depending on the location of the mountain gorillas.
Wonderful views of buffaloes, primates (chimpanzees and red-tailed monkeys), bushbucks, bird species and unique flora species will be encountered while trekking and on sighting the mountain gorillas, spend one hour in their midst and return to the starting point for an award of a gorilla certificate. Meet up with your safari driver for a transfer to the Lodge for Lunch.
There is an optional Batwa community visit in the evening to spend time with some of the Batwa pygmies who will take you through their exciting culture and lifestyles. Drive back to the Lodge for evening relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Departure.
Have breakfast and bid farewell to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Start your journey while relishing the views of the terraced hills and make a stop at Mpambire Drum Makers to see how different drums are made. Lunch is en-route and arrive Kampala in the evening.
