The main focus of this safari is double gorilla trekking while staying in the best Safari Lodges but other activities such as cultural tours and visit to Lake Bunyonyi were added to spice up your gorilla trekking experience.
You will appreciate Uganda at its best by trekking the mountain gorillas through the steep, misty and deeply forested hills to spend quality time in the presence of the giant apes. Detailed itinerary.
Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to south-western Uganda, in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
An early morning breakfast and transfer from Kampala leads you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, in south-western Uganda. Traverse different lively towns and tourist sites such as Uganda equator where you will take a break from the journey for photography.
Continue with the drive and take another break at Mbarara Town for Lunch, then arrive Bwindi in the evening where dinner will be served after check-in and settling in.
Day 2: First Gorilla Trek and evening Community walk in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Leave your Lodge after a hefty breakfast and embark on a transfer to the Park Headquarters. Your first gorilla trek will be on one of the four sectors of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, for an awakening and unforgettable encounter with one of the habituated gorilla families. Briefing begins at 07h00 and is done by park officials where you will be acquainted with the information on the Park, gorilla family to be trekked, trekking process, length of trekking and guidelines to be followed while trekking. Trekking lasts 2-6 hours and this also includes the magical one hour with the mountain gorillas. A delicious Lunch awaits you on your return to the Lodge.
Afterwards check-out of the Lodge for a transfer to another sector, where your second gorilla trek will take place. On arrival, relax at the Lodge with a glass of wine (at your own cost) or undertake guided leisure walk to experience culture of the Bakiga or Batwa communities. Your tour will be climaxed by a dramatic cultural dance performance and dinner will be a mouth-watering local cuisine or International cuisines to satisfy your appetite after an adventurous and thrilling day in the jungles/with the community.
Day 3: Second gorilla trekking adventure in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and drive to Lake Bunyonyi.
Another phenomenal gorilla trekking experience awaits you on this day of your safari. Have an early breakfast and be driven or move to the sector’s briefing point for an orientation on what to expect as well as guidelines of trekking. Follow the same routine of trekking mountain gorillas in this sector, while encountering other residents of the Park (other mammals, reptiles and birds) and take photos of the gorilla family. Another sumptuous Lunch awaits you at the Lodge and this is followed by a drive to Lake Bunyonyi for relaxation.
Take on a boat ride through Lake Bunyonyi to explore the pristine and lush Islands on this beautiful Lake. Observe and take photos of the surrounding rolling hills at the backdrop of the Lake and return back to the Lodge for slumber and dinner.
Day 4: Drive back to Kampala.
Be served a lovely breakfast and say goodbye to the Lodge staff as you check-out for a transfer to Kampala. En-route Lunch plus stopover at Mpambire Drum Makers will usher you to Kampala or the Airport in the evening.
