Overview.
The 4 days Masai Mara Safari is an adventure-packed Kenya Safari package based in popular Masai Mara National Reserve. With 4 days in this 1510-square kilometer Reserve, visitors have plenty of time to experience the diversity it offers. Visit in-season to experience one of the Natural Wonders of the World-the “Great Migration” where millions of wildebeests, zebras and Grant’s gazelles sweep over the vast savannah plains in a jaw-dropping display of wildlife drama. The most spectacular and photogenic view is the “Mara madness” as wildebeests, zebras and gazelles battle out with fierce crocodiles and lions while crossing the Mara River.
Masai Mara National Reserve is undeniably one of the most outstanding wildlife rich destinations you will ever visit with high populations of elephants, lions, cheetahs, Hippos, olive baboons, buffaloes, leopards, warthogs, Rhinos, Defassa waterbucks, common elands, Thomson’s gazelles, wildebeests, Oribis, side-striped jackals, Topis, impalas, bat-eared foxes, black-backed jackals, bushbucks, serval cats, Reedbucks and civets among others. For birders, Masai Mara doesn’t disappoint with over 400 species of birds.
Detailed itinerary.
Day 1: Pick up from Jomo Kenyatta Airport or any location in Nairobi and drive to Masai Mara Reserve.
In the morning, pick-up from Jomo Kenyatta Airport or any location in Nairobi City by your driver and embark on a drive to the beautiful Masai Mara Plains. Break the journey along the way to admire the beautiful Great Rift Valley Escarpment.
On entering the spectacular Reserve, be led to your Lodge for meals, overnight stay and relaxation. This is the same place you will be staying for the rest of the safari.
Day 2: Full day game drive in Masai Mara National Reserve.
Have breakfast and get ready to explore the beauty, diversity and exceptionality of Masai Mara National Reserve. Be ready for unlimited dose of game drives through savannah grasslands dotted with flat-topped acacia trees and roamed by elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, lions, Hippos, Defassa waterbucks, hartebeests, warthogs, Rhinos, side-stripped jackals, leopards, cheetahs, Kobs, Oribis, spotted hyenas and many others.
On this day drive to the banks of the Mara River to see Crocodiles and Hippos. If your tour is organized during the great migration season, expect to witness large number of wildebeests, zebras and gazelle streaming over the river in large number while battling with crocodiles. Take a break to have a Bush Lunch while sharing experiences with other visitors and guides
Continue with the game drive which will double, if not tripped your chances of spotting more of the Park’s wildlife species and return back to the Lodge for dinner and overnight stay as well as relaxation under the stars.
Day 3: Half day game drive and afternoon visit to Masai Village
On the third day choose between a hot air balloon safari and half day game drive to explore the savannah grasslands teeming with exceptional wildlife species. In the afternoon, a cultural tour is organized to the Masai Village to interact with the people, explore and learn about their breathtaking culture and lifestyle.
Focus on their beautiful accessories; beaded jewelry, sandals as well as their melodic music and dance performances. Overnight and sinner at the same budget, midrange or Luxury Safari Lodge/Tented Camp within or near Masai Mara National Reserve.
Day 4: Game drive and head back to Nairobi.
Leave the Safari Lodge or Tented Camp after breakfast and take a morning game drive through the Masai Mara National Reserve. Drive back to the bustling City of Nairobi with en-route Lunch break. Either proceed to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for a flight back home or continue with your safari to other destinations
