Overview.
The 5 days Gorillas & Wildlife Tour is a packages safari to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in south-western Uganda for the ultimate gorilla trekking experience and Queen Elizabeth National Park for wildlife viewing. Much as gorilla trekking and wildlife viewing are the main activities of this tour, it will also comprise other additional exciting activities as you will discover in the itinerary.
The tour starts in Kampala, heads to Queen Elizabeth National Par then Bwindi Impenetrable National Park before ending in the same city.
Detailed Itinerary.
Day 1: Pick-up from any location in Kampala and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Our professional safari driver/guide will pick you up from any location in Kampala City on the morning of your departure and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The transfer is done in a customized 4WD Vehicle where you will be driven via the Kampala-Masaka-Mbarara-Kasese route.
This route includes several stopovers along the way for photography, Lunch and comfort breaks, with your first being at Uganda Equator for 30 minutes and the second at Igongo Cultural Center for Lunch.
On arrival at Queen Elizabeth National Park, you will check-in at any of the budget, midrange or luxury Safari Lodges/Tented Camps offering a backdrop into the vast savannah plains and be treated to comfort and delicious meal.
Day 2: Full day at Queen Elizabeth National Park.
The safari driver/guide will pick you up in the morning to start your full day exploration of Queen Elizabeth National Park where hopefully be able to spot the elephants, lions, serval cats, buffaloes, giant forest hogs, Defassa waterbucks, Aardvarks, leopards, Uganda Kobs, bushbucks, warthogs and common elands among others. After the game drive return to the Lodge for a full breakfast and rest while enjoying the views it offers.
Our Company drivers/guides are equipped with knowledge on the wildlife and bird species within most Ugandan Parks and therefore be assured of memorable game viewing experiences. Make sure to bring along sunglasses, wide-brimmed hat, good camera, binoculars and wear appropriate clothing for the game drive.
In the afternoon undertake a launch cruise along the Kazinga Channel starting at 2:00pm to bring you closer to the hippos and Nile crocodiles as well as buffaloes, elephants, Uganda Kobs and bushbucks, not leaving out the numerous bird species that call this park home. Return to the Lodge before sunset for dinner around fire or within the Lodge restaurant and overnight stay.
Day 3: Queen Elizabeth National Park to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Pick-up from the Lodge is in the morning after breakfast to allow you check-out and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for the remaining days of the safari. The transfer involves driving southwards towards Ishasha sector for a once-in-a lifetime opportunity of seeing the tree climbing lions.
This sector also has high concentration of Uganda Kobs, giant forest hogs, warthogs, buffaloes and Topis among others and continue driving with a Lunch break at Savannah Resort Kihihi. Arrive Bwindi in the evening and make way to the lodge for dinner and relaxed evening.
Day 4: Track mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
You will be treated to a full continental breakfast before heading off for registration and briefing at the Park Headquarters, while hoping to trek and spend time with the mountain gorillas. Briefing is done by Park officials and trekking begins at 8:00am in the company of 7 other visitors, UWA Ranger guide and porters.
You will see the mountain gorillas busy living their lives of foraging, playing, resting, grooming, mating and leadership skills exhibited by silverbacks. Upon spending time with them, get back to the Lodge where you will be served Lunch and spend the remainder of the afternoon to catch up with sleep or relax around the lounge area. Sunset will be spent within the nearby local communities to explore their unique cultures and traditions, then be driven back to the Lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Transfer back to Entebbe International Airport/ or Kampala City.
Rise in the morning for breakfast and check-out of the lodge, where your safari driver will be waiting to drive you back to Kampala City or Entebbe International Airport to fly back home.
