Overview.
The 6 days Bwindi and Serengeti Safari is one of the shortest trans-border wildlife and gorilla trekking safari packages for East Africa. A safari that combines two of East Africa’s top 5 National Parks is worth undertaking.
Serengeti National Park is situated within the northern region of Tanzania sand popular for the annual wildebeest migration as over 2 million wildebeests, zebras and gazelle migrate across the unfenced boundaries of Serengeti National Park and Kenya’s Masai Mara National Reserve. This Park is a biodiversity hot spot with large numbers of big five animals – Rhinos, leopards, Elephants, lions and buffaloes in addition to wildebeests, zebras, Grant’s and Thompson Gazelles, Masai giraffes, Hippos, common elands, Defassa waterbucks and many others. The numerous bird species and jaw-dropping sceneries of Ngorongoro Crater from a distance is an added advantage.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is found in the south-western region of Uganda and is popular for rewarding visitors with memorable gorilla trekking adventures with over 20 habituated gorilla groups. The terraced rolling hills at the backdrop of the misty forest of Bwindi is an added advantage for exploring this amazing destination.
Detailed itinerary.
Day 1: Transfer from Arusha Town to the endowed Serengeti National Park in northern Tanzania.
In the morning after breakfast at the hotel in Arusha Town, meet and greet with your safari driver for briefing on the destinations to be visited during the safari. Drive through a number of magnificent attractions, but the one that will stand-out is the beautiful Ngorongoro Conservation Area with an assortment of wildlife and bird species as well as mind-boggling sceneries.
Reach any of Serengeti National Park gates in the afternoon for check-in at your lodge for lunch, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Full day adventure of Serengeti National Park.
An early morning breakfast wouldn’t be a bad idea to start your day in this famous Tanzanian wilderness Park. With your Lunch box set out on a game drive through the Park and if it is done in the company of a Park guide, chances of encountering numerous exceptional wildlife species is very high.
If you have never seen the serval cats, big five animals-elephants, lions, Rhinos, buffaloes and leopards as well as African wild dogs, caracals, cheetahs, impalas, spotted hyenas, zebras, wildebeests, grant’s and Thomson’s gazelles, Topis and Oribis, then count yourself lucky because these are the unmissable views to expect. Relax under one of the huge trees to enjoy your packed Lunch while recollecting memories from the game drive.
Continue with the game drive that will reward you will views of animals and bird species missed in the morning and head to the nearby Masai pastoralist communities. This is the start of something priceless where you will be entertained in energetic and exciting cultural dance performances, get a glimpse into their thrilling culture and many other rewarding activities. With the help of the Park guide use a different route to leave the Park while encountering more attractions and return to the Lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Drive from Serengeti National Park to Arusha Town and outbound flight to Entebbe International Airport.
Breakfast in the wilderness and exit the park for Arusha town through a game drive. Catch a flight to Entebbe International Airport where you will find our company representative for a drive to the hotel in Kampala city.
Day 4: Pick-up from the hotel in Kampala for a transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Pick-up from the Hotel in Kampala after breakfast is done by your safari guide who will again brief you on the destination to be visited. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in south-western Uganda is approximately 540 kilometers and 8-9 hours’ drive from the City.
Just like the drive from Arusha to Serengeti, the drive from Kampala to Bwindi will have be characterized by en-route stops especially at the Uganda Equator for photography and another in Mbarara Town for Lunch. Be in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Half day mountain gorilla trekking adventure.
Early breakfast and walk to the Park Headquarters for briefing by UWA Park rangers and allocation (8 persons) into a single gorilla group to trek. Receive a walking stick and start the trek through hilly, misty and heavily forested jungles of Bwindi Impenetrable lasting 1-4 hours depending on the movement of the mountain gorillas on the particular day.
Because they roam freely in the forest, today it may be easier or more difficult to find them than it was the previous day. One hour to observe their interesting behavior and take photographs will be the highlight of this safari. Meet your driver/guide for a transfer to the lodge for lunch.
Spend your evening on a community visit or relax by the Lodge to recollect memories of your gorilla trek and pack your bags as you prepare to leave Bwindi Impenetrable National Park the following day.
Day 6: Travel from Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to Kampala City with en-route stops
Be served breakfast and travel back to Kampala City or Entebbe International Airport.
