6 DAYS UGANDA SAFARI.
Overview.
The 6 days Uganda Safari is an exhilarating short wildlife viewing, chimpanzee trekking and gorilla trekking safari. This trip starts in Kampala, heads to Murchison falls National Park, Kibale Forest and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, then ends in the same City (Kampala). These three destinations have different ecosystems with varying wildlife and bird species.
Detailed itinerary.
Day 1: Head-off to Murchison falls National Park via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary.
Your 6 days of adventurous exploration starts with visiting Murchison falls National Park in north-western Uganda for your first dose of wildlife viewing. Drive through the historical Town of Luwero (known for being the starting point for the guerrilla war that ushered in the National Resistance Movement in 1986). Continue with the journey until Nakasongola Town where you will branch off at Nakitoma to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary.
While here, track the Rhinos for 2 hours and also have lunch at Amuka Safari Lodge. Proceed with the journey to the Park where you will be welcomed by curious Olive baboons, vervet monkeys, warthogs and Uganda Kobs driving directly to the Lodge for dinner, overnight stay and relaxation.
Day 2: Early morning game drive and in the afternoon undertake a launch cruise to the bottom of the falls.
Enjoy breakfast and set off for the morning game drive along the Northern Delta Nile where numerous savannah-dwelling wildlife species such as Oribis, Jackson’s hartebeests, olive baboons, Rothschild giraffes, Defassa waterbucks, lions, elephants, warthogs, buffaloes, Uganda Kobs, common elands, leopards, serval cats and many others. After hours of driving through the Park’s hot spots, return back to the Lodge for Lunch and short relaxation.
In the afternoon undertake a Launch cruise on the Nile, to the bottom of the Murchison falls for 2 hours where large schools of Hippos and basks of crocodiles are seen. Also look-out for small herds of Uganda Kobs, buffaloes and elephants along the banks as well as numerous bird species such as shoebill storks, saddle-billed storks, grey-crowned cranes, giant and pied kingfishers in addition to African fish eagles. Continue with the hike to the top of the falls for jaw-dropping views of the falls and return back to the Lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer from Murchison falls NP in north-western Uganda to Kibale Forest National Park.
Get on your safari vehicle for a transfer to Kibale Forest National Park while enjoying resplendent views of the escarpment wall, Lake Albert flats as well as the snow-capped summits of Rwenzori Mountains. En-route Lunch while dinner and overnight stay at the Lodge in/around Kibale Forest National Park.
Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking through the jungles of Kibale Forest and in the afternoon transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Early in the morning after breakfast prepare your trekking gear and wear in the appropriate attire as you wait for pick-up by your safari driver. Be transferred to the Visitor Center for briefing that marks the beginning of something unforgettable. Attend briefing on the set rules and regulations of trekking chimpanzees and at 8am start off with the actual trek that will see you walk for several hours while encountering a number of primates, birds, butterflies and tree species found in Kibale Forest National Park.
Movements will be detected by your guide from afar and you will be informed before approaching the chimpanzees and those face to face moments is one of life’s most priceless moments. Spend one hour with these beautiful creatures and get back to the Lodge for Lunch and drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Day 5: Mountain Gorilla trekking in Buhoma sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
In the morning move or be driven to the park headquarters for registration and briefing. The forest is lush and spectacular with numerous trails for encountering mountain gorillas, other mammals, birds, trees and butterflies. Encountering and spending time to take photos or observe the mountain gorillas is an extraordinary, touching and priceless experience and with this safari, you will have one hour with the mountain gorillas.
Have lunch and spend the remainder of the afternoon and evening unwinding at the lodge or undertake a cultural tour. Be treated to a delicious dinner around fire or at the Lodge’s restaurant.
Day 6: Return back to Kampala City with en-route lunch break.
After breakfast, pack your bags and bid farewell to the Lodge staff as you embark on a return trip to Kampala.
