Like most East African countries, Rwanda is a nature-based tourism destination. There is a lot to explore and experience in Rwanda when it comes to wildlife. If you are interested in primates then no better place to visit than Rwanda. Not only does it protect mountain gorillas but also a wide array of other primate species including golden monkeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, chimpanzees, silver monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, olive baboons, species of bush babies, red tailed monkeys, red colobus monkeys to mention but a few.
Most of the protected area also offer refuge to a number of reptiles, amphibians and bird species. Rwanda’s popular destinations include Akagera National Park, Nyungwe, Gishwati-Mukura National Park and Volcanoes National Park.
For all wildlife viewing experiences, Akagera should be a must-visit to sight the big game, birds and many of the savanna species.
